IN HOME SLEEP STUDIES ARE COMPLIMENTARY AT ALL SNORE SHOP LOCATIONS
Because of decreasing hospital resources and escalating costs, home testing for SDB is becoming a more common practice. In-home sleep studies are offered at little to no cost, and the devices have been validated against in-hospital testing, allowing for accurate and convenient testing. This saves hospital resources, and allows for more timely diagnosis and treatment of SDB.
The ARES Unicorder
The ARES Unicorder (SleepMed, formerly Watermark Medical) was developed as a level II sleep device (in-hospital monitored polysomnographic testing is a level I study) designed to record multiple channels of data for one night’s sleep. It will record your breathing parameters, oxygen levels, heart rate and snoring volume, as well as your head position. This device will also record the percentage of REM sleep (rapid eye movement) you have during your study, allowing you to assess your sleep quality.
Waiting times for this test are approximately five business days. The device is easy to use, with voice-commands and a single push button. Once completed, return the device to your Snore Shop location. Your results will be sent to your physician for review. The Snore Shop staff are able to discuss your results with you, although only a physician can give the actual diagnosis.
